Dogs will begin scratching their fur for countless reasons, ranging from allergies, to fleas , to filth; but most of the time, it's an underlying yeast infection. What may start as an ear yeast infection could soon afflict his skin and coat health as well. If left unchecked, it could lead to a foul odor, greasy or scaly skin and irritated paws. While the symptoms of yeast infections in dogs are certainly uncomfortable for your dog, there are viable methods of treating yeast infections in dogs and improving your dog's health overall.

Understanding how yeast production works in a dog's body is vital to being able to treat it. Dogs produce candida albicans, a form of yeast, in their intestines to consume sugars and fats and aid in the digestive process. When your dog is eating processed foods that are low in protein and high in grains and carbohydrates, the yeast will begin to feed on these sugars and reproduce in far greater numbers than normal. This will lead to many of the aforementioned symptoms and can make living with your dog rather uncomfortable for the both of you!

Luckily, a yeast infection in dogs can be treated with a combination of a meat-rich raw diet and rejuvenating dog shampoo that can get him back in tip-top shape. A meaty diet coupled with a nutritional supplement will provide beneficial amino acids, probiotics, omega-3 fatty acids and many other nutrients that can support optimal skin health, improve the strength and shine of his coat and maintain a healthy weight. It will also help to limit yeast production by reducing the amount of sugars and fats your dog consumes.

While the diet will help to improve your dog's itching problems from the inside out, you can help provide immediate relief with Dinovite's DogOsuds. This fabulous shampoo is formulated with essential oils to soothe your dog's skin. In no time you'll see a drop in the frequency of his scratching and his coat will be back to in brilliant shape.

Yeast infections in dogs aren't the end of the world, but they can signal that you need to make some immediate dog food changes. A proper dog food can help to dramatically strengthen your dog's immune system and help clear up the side effects of a dog's yeast infection.

Here is a quick list of ingredients you will need to get started making our Homemade Dog Food.

5 Simple Ingredients:

1.) 10 lbs of raw ground beef (70/30 is a good choice for most dogs.)

2.) 18 hard boiled eggs including the shells-cooled  (The shells provide calcium for your dog. You can crush them by hand, like in the video or put the entire hard boiled egg through your food processor to pulverize the shells. Without the shells, your dog can develop a calcium deficiency.) If you don't want to use the egg shell we do have a calcium/magnesium supplement called Fidocal. You can use Fidocal instead of the egg shells.

3.) 10 cups of cooked white rice (This is made from 5 cups of uncooked rice.)

4.) 1   8oz. tube of LickOchops Omega Fatty Acid Supplement (for finicky dogs)  OR one 8 oz. tube of SuprOmega Fish Oil (for skin support)

5.) 2 1/2 to 4 cups of Dinovite for Dogs.  (If your dog is miserable, adding more Dinovite for Dogs to your dog's diet is a great idea.)

Special Note: Dogs have a very acidic stomach (pH of 1) environment that kills the bacteria on fresh meat. This is how they can eat fresh meat and not get sick. It is also why dogs can knock over garbage cans, eat the contents and live to do it again the next week. After all they are scavengers. It all makes sense.
